Appointment of Clay Smolinski to Co-Chief Investment Officer

The Company advises that Platinum Investment Management Limited (“Platinum”) has appointed Clay Smolinski to the role of Co-Chief Investment Officer (“CIO”) working alongside Platinum’s current CIO, Andrew Clifford. Clay’s appointment will take effect from 1 April 2021.

Clay joined Platinum in 2006 as an analyst, became the portfolio manager of the Platinum European Fund in 2009, and was assigned to manage the Platinum Unhedged Fund in 2014. In 2018, he took over the portfolio management responsibilities for two other global portfolios and currently co-manages the flagship Platinum International Fund.

Appointment of managers for Platinum’s Asia ex-Japan portfolios*

Internal replacements have also been named by Platinum for the management of Platinum’s Asia ex-Japan portfolios following the recent departure of the manager.

Andrew Clifford and Cameron Robertson will co-manage the portfolios commencing 1 April 2021, with Andrew to manage the majority of the portfolios’ assets.

Andrew previously managed Platinum’s Asia ex-Japan strategy from its initial inception in 2003 through to 2014. He remains as a co-manager on a number of Platinum’s global portfolios.

Cameron joined Platinum in 2010, having initially focused on resources and industrial companies, and later on the technology and communications sectors. Cameron was appointed as co-manager of the Platinum International Technology Fund in early 2017 and was previously the sector lead of the technology / communications team.

Appointment of additional manager for Platinum’s Global portfolios

In addition, Nikola Dvornak will be appointed as a co-manager to the Platinum International Fund and to Platinum Capital Limited (ASX: PMC), Platinum’s global equity listed investment company.

Nik will co-manage the portfolios from 1 April 2021, alongside co-managers Andrew Clifford and Clay Smolinski. Andrew will continue to manage the majority of the portfolios’ assets.

Nik joined Platinum in 2006 as an analyst in the financials / services sector. He was appointed a co-manager of the Platinum European Fund in 2014, before becoming the sole manager in early 2017 and continues to cover the financials / services sector.

Appointment of additional portfolio manager

From 1 April 2021, the Platinum European Fund will be co-managed by Nik Dvornak, the current portfolio manager and Adrian Cotiga.

Adrian joined Platinum in 2015 as an investment analyst in the Asia regional team. In December 2019, he moved to the financials/services sector team as team leader. Previously, Adrian worked as a program manager at Lloyds Banking Group and Westpac. Prior to that, Adrian had spent several years in management consulting roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Capgemini.
